HVCcycle has been battling the problem of modifying the side stands on the RDs when aftermarket pipes are installed. Since we now sell our own line of exhaust systems, we did not want to leave our customers scratching their heads trying to figure out a way to allow the side stand to fit with expansion chambers. So we sat down and came up with a solution that will be easy to install, maintain our high quality standards, and most importantly WORK.
Our kit accomplishes two things. It allows the stock side stand to be used with aftermarket exhaust and it takes out that terrible lean angle of the bike when it is resting on the side stand.
This kit will work with any after market exhaust using your existing side stand on the following motorcycles:
- Yamaha DS7/R5
- Yamaha RD250/RD350
- Yamaha RD400
- Yamaha RD400F
Kit includes:
- Our steel bracket that has black oxide coating to prevent rusting
- A longer spring that is designed and manufactured just for this kit
- Hardware and a drill bit
Installation of the side stand kit will require the basic hand tools, a drill and either a pair of vice grips or a spring installation tool (recommended).

I wanted to let you know that I just installed your kickstand relocation kit on my 1978 Yamaha RD 400.
It is perfect!
I have expansion chambers that I installed years ago. The kickstand has always rubbed and hung low. Now the kickstand folds perfectly and misses the chambers by less than 1/2 an inch. It looks like a factory job. I can't wait to take a fast sweeper to the left and NOT have the kickstand drag the ground.

Great fit
Took all the R&D out of fixing the kick stand to pipe clearance. Was going to reweld the tab but ordered thos kit instead. Didn't save me any money but saved a bunch of time so same thing in my book. Great product thanks HV Cycle.

‘73 RD350 Kickstand relocation
Allowed me to have a factory kickstand on my ‘heavily modified ‘73 RD350. I had a cheap aftermarket, very old kickstand that was pretty rickety. This is so secure and stable. It fits around the aftermarket chambers as well, which is why I needed a different stand. Very happy with it!

Easy installation
Better than it was... Unfortunately the kickstand mount on my RD350 had been broken and re-welded at some point. That apparently is pretty common as the crossmember is thin. It was not done that well and spoiled the alignment somewhat. The kickstand still hits my FPP chambers. No fault of the kit. Fortunately the spring keeps it folded so it isn't dangling like it was before.
