R5 / DS7 crank Seal Modification
The main crankshaft seals are slightly different from the original seals. The original seals are no longer available. You must modify the outside of the crank shaft seals to work on the R5 and DS7. All that needs to be done is carefully remove the raised lip on the outside of the seal.
The best method to do this is with a bench grinder. Put the seal on your fingers and slightly touch the seal to the grinding wheel. Let the seal rotate on your fingers until the raised lip is almost even with the rest of the seal.
Razor blades work but do not leave a smooth finish.
