Product Description
Boyesen's patented dual-stage design incorporates a specially shaped top reed and ported bottom reed. The top reed is lightweight and resilient for crisp throttle response at partial throttle or low RPM. The stiffer, bottom reed is ported to provide maximum flow and horsepower at higher RPM
More Airflow, More Air Velocity, More overall Power
Each set includes enough reeds for both cylinders.
Important Note: Dual-stage design provides more torque for stock engines. (Reed dimensions are: length = 45.3mm & width = 38.3mm) ( 2-petal / 2-screw hole reeds) Complete twin engine set of reeds.
A POWERFUL SOLUTION TO A SIMPLE PROBLEM
One reed petal is NOT enough! The reed petals in all 2 stroke engines take an incredible amount of abuse! At peak RPM, reed petals are opening and closing hundreds of times per second. Over time, a single reed loses its ability to regulate flow rates in proper proportions. This causes a loss of reed petal reaction and reduces the consistency of peak horsepower. Boyesen's revolutionary dual-stage reed design delivers more usable power than stock. Stock single-stage reeds operate most effectively within a relatively narrow RPM range and are limited because of the single stage design. Boyesen's one soft reed on top of one firm flow-through reed gives you a wide range of intake control, plus increased intake velocity. Your original reeds can't possibly duplicate that performance. The dual-stage design allows you to replace your stock reed stop with a Rev-Plate which permits the reeds to open freely and function efficiently. The multi-port feature of the bottom reed creates more channels for the charge, delivering increased velocity to the intake ports and generating more overall power. Dual-stage reeds work in unison to perform efficiently throughout the entire powerband. The difference in stiffness between the top reed and the bottom reed allow the reeds to respond quickly and accurately to changes in engine pressure. This translates into quicker acceleration, crisper throttle response and increased horsepower throughout the powerband.
THE BOYESEN POWER REED ADVANTAGE
Dual-stage reeds work in unison to perform efficiently throughout the entire powerband. The difference in stiffness between the top reed and the bottom reed allow the reeds to respond quickly and accurately to changes in engine pressure. This translates into quicker acceleration, crisper throttle response and increased horsepower throughout the powerband.

Boyesen Dual Stage Reeds
Received with a stress mark in the Center of one of the pedals. It didn’t appear cracked under magnification but I am concerned about it’s longevity. I do like the theory behind the dual stage technology so I’m anticipating good results over the standard metal pedals.

Cleans up low rpm
These reeds gave a noticeable increase in power from 3000 to 6000 RPM and did a good a job of reducing part throttle surging in that range. They may also increase power above 6000 RPM but the motor was pretty strong in that range to start with so it is harder to judge that range.

I'm not sure as too weather these reeds are a improvement over stock but I will say they are well packaged and the cost is reasonable as opposed to "stock replacements". One packaged took care of two intakes. The instructions specified to lay the flatter of two sides against the reed block surface. Well they seemed to be well manufactured as flatness to the naked eye for me was good either side of all the reeds, no problems there. They also include these little metal strips with holes to put over the reeds if your missing the stock curved reed stops. I guess theoretically the reeds would open up more if I put those in rather than use what was stock but the instructions stated to use the stock stops if you had em. Like I said in the beginning of this review I can't really say if this makes for a stronger hit of the powerband or smoother because I really don't know the bike very well as it's new to me. I just put these in as I already had the reed blocks out to replace the manifolds but they are cost effective and made well.
