Fantastic upgrade!
I installed this on my 1969 Yamaha R3. Everything fit as it should. The company that makes this is Czech, so the translation in the manual is not perfect. The wiring diagram they included is a little confusing, but with a bit of thought I was able to figure it out. The quality of the parts is excellent. The voltage regulator even screwed into the same spot as the old regulator with no modifications. The only issue I had was that the coils don't come with any sort of mounting hardware, so you will have to figure that one out yourself. What I did was grab some starter shims and line the holes up with the mounting holes for the original ignition coil holes. I also had to drill out the mounting holes on the new coils themselves a little bit. The spark is much brighter with the new setup. It started up without any trouble as soon as I had it all together. In order to set timing just right, you'll need a dial micrometer. I didn't have one when I just guessed where close to TDC was and set it, that started fine. I brought it to a shop to get set correctly. Stock is supposed to be set 2.1mm btdc I believe. Powerdynamo says it is supposed to be 2.9mm before btdc but that is incorrect. I have mine set to 1.6mm btdc. I believe this took me about 3-4 hours to put together, but I move slowly and had some buddies helping me out, so we get distracted and all that good stuff. I would recommend this to anyone that is thinking of upgrading their YR1, YR2, or R3.
