Worked Great!
I had some very tight clearances on my RD400 with Rausk rearsets. I modified the solid foot peg and replaced it with a folding peg. I still had interference. But with this kick starter I am able to achieve a full stroke with it. Nice finish and quality, too.

Yamaha RD kick starter for rear sets
This works exactly as claimed -- it clears a rearset foot peg. An added bonus is that it has a much better finish than the stock kick start lever in that it is polished perfectly smoothly and is actually round. Its chrome is done beautifully. A very nice little detail is that the circlip that locks the lever to its base is chromed too. Lovely work!

Very Nice for the Price
Excellent quality for the price. Clears a Daytona with Moto Carrera rearsets although the description reads '76 - '78. Very pleased.

RD400 Rear set kickstarter
Overall the kickstarter is decent. Not the quality of the OEM but it solved my problem.

Very clean and easier than heating/bending the stock unit
For $50...it's definitely worth it..especially if you consider your/my time to double bend the stock kick-starter (and hopefully get it right the first time) as well as the heating marks left behind. It comes with new washers, c-clip, and ball-bearing & spring. It also comes with large washer/shims to push out the knuckle if you need additional clearance. TIP: It might be difficult to get the new kick-starter on the end of the knuckle (the c-clip channel may get a little gnarly/flared with age)...after steel-wooling it clean, install the spring & ballbearing (use a little grease in the hole and on the spring so that it doesn't fall out as your installing the kicker)... Once the kicker is pushed down, but gets a bit hung up on the c-clip groove, use a 17mm socket over the top of the end of the kicker and then tap it down until full seated.
