Kawasaki F6, 1971 125cc

1971 Kawasaki F6

Restored from 2024 to 2025 for a customer in New Mexico. This little gem will be traveling the high desert of New Mexico with style and finesse. As with all restorations, we learn a lot about the model as we go through the process.  This bike was retrofitted with a rear wheel assembly from a Yamaha at one time, We found a brand-new correct hub, had stainless steel spokes, and a chrome rim made up to complete the new wheel assembly. That also raised more issues, the chain adjusters were not Kawasaki either and on top of that finding the rear sprocket was impossible, unless you call Sprocket Specialties and have one made.

The original front fender was mangled and cracked So it awas not useable. With some research we found that the F7 front fender is the same except for the color. Lucky for us there were a few on Ebay still new in the wrappers.  No one makes an electronic ignition for this engine, so we stuck with the points and condenser.

Chrome work redone by our friends in Omaha Ne, Industrial Plating. All the powder coating was done from CrossLinc Custom coating here in Lincoln NE. Paint work done by our own Jesse with the use of Diablo Cycle Decals.

The Restoration included a Full engine teardown, rebuilt the crank, the Cylinder was beyond repair, so we sourced a good used one of Ebay to bore and polish like new again. Numerous new rubber parts, cables and Seat cover.  The Seat foam was beyond use and once again none to be found. Comparing it to a Yamaha DT360 seat, it was close, So ordered one up and let the modifications begin. Added an inch to the length, Foam to make it wider in the front and the good old electric carving knife to make it narrower on the top. It is close to spot on and the seat cover fits well.

All in all we are very please at the outcome.
