Product Description
Vape CDI Ignition-12v/150W
Formally Powerdynamo/MZB
Magnet based generator with integrated ignition. Output at 12V/150W DC. Solid state ignition with own power supply from within the system. Replaces old dynamo, regulator and ignition coils. No changes on engine casing needed. The system is technically capable of running without battery.
Rotor Keyway Service
The Vape ignition comes without a key-way and relies on lock tight and the bolt to prevent slipping. we have had the rotors slip and throw off the timing so we built some tooling to install a key-way to take care of the problem. Available for the Yamaha RD only
This service is an additional $75.00

Great system and great support from HVC!
After some setup issues (mostly my fault) The system works great and the bike never ran better. The guys at HVC offered great support on the phone.

4 time Powerdynamo owner...GREAT PRODUCT
I have the Powerdynamo in my 75 RD350 and both my 77RD400s. Also installing in my 72 GT380 project. This is the only way to go, a GREAT product. Do not own an RD without this system.

Powerdynamo review
After having diagnosing charging system issues I decided to order a powerdynamo instead of spending money on oem parts and still having a marginal at best charging output. Istallation was easy, (I opted for the keyway cutting option.) Charging output is greatly improved allowing me to run a modern halogen 55/65w headlight. unit starts on the first or second kick everytime. Have to put some miles on it to tell if plug fouling has been eliminated. Runs great, money well spent!

PowerDynamo CDI installation and performance
I installed an early offering of this ignition. had some minor fit up problems with the mounting bracket holding the pick up unit. Brad with HVCCyle was great to work with to resolve the problem and the issue is not existent with current offerings. Up and running the unit works great. I am actually using a 65W head lamp with no issues. EASY starting and I do not fowl plugs any longer (Much stronger/hotter spark I guess). I HIGHLY recommend doing the option for a Key way. It took me a while to find a Loctite compound to keep the unit from slipping out of timing (Bike would actually start with the motor rotating in reverse). The unit is well worth the money, it eliminates all the timing and charging issues of the stock system.
